11-Day Yoga Trek for Solo Women in Nepal

Overview

Embark on this rich, immersive, all-inclusive 11-day (10 nights) yoga trek into the Langtang Valley, the heart of the Himalayas. Find your own inspiration in the company of other like-minded women. As you journey deep into the mountains on this yoga trek, let the towering giants of the Himalayas inform your yoga and meditation practice.

You will slowly trek through villages bursting with culture or forests replete with biodiversity, discovering Nepal at a leisurely pace in the company of other wonderful women. As you venture deep into the Langtang Valley, there will be enough time for your body and mind to adjust and take in the mountains and culture. The adventure starts at Kathmandu, with a briefing over dinner, and we will catch a private vehicle to the trail-head early next day.

We are two Nepali women, working together to design and lead this yoga trek. Drawing on over 10 years of experience, we have carefully put this trip together to provide a unique experience for other women.

One of us is an experienced meditation and yoga teacher. She will guide morning yoga as the sun rises in the Himalayas, and help you end the day with quiet reflection and meditation. The other is an adventurer and wildlife enthusiast. She will help you get acquainted with the natural and cultural wonders of the area.

You will slowly trek through Tamang and Sherpa villages, eventually arriving in Kyanjin Gompa where you will spend three days. You can choose to spend these days with your yoga and meditation teacher deepening your yoga and meditation practice. The other option is to venture out with your adventure lead to take on the challenging but rewarding task of scaling a peak or two, including one that is almost 5,000 meters high.

 

Itinerary

Day 0

Meet your posse for dinner

Today, over dinner, meet your trek leader, your yoga teacher, and the rest of your team. We will have a fun time getting to know each other and  readying for the start tomorrow.

Day 1

Our adventure starts: to the trailhead!

We start out early, pick you up at your hotel / residence in Kathmandu, and set out towards the Tibet border, until we reach the start of the trail at Syabrubesi (2380m). If we are lucky, we will start seeing rhododendrons in bloom and mountains peeking at us on our way.

Day 2

A steep climb and a rewarding view

Today is our first day on the trail, and also one of the toughest. After morning yoga, we grab a quick breakfast, and set off on the climb up to Sherpagaon (2790m) - literally means "the village of Sherpas." An evening meditation session (optional) will help you reflect and recharge.

Day 3

A second day of reveling in nature

After morning yoga and a beautiful Sherpa breakfast, we set off on another day of trekking through the beautiful forests of Langtang National Park. Lunch is at a picturesque spot by the river in Rimche, and we reach Chunama (2800 m) where we call it a day.

Day 4

Mountain madness all around

After our morning routine of yoga and breakfast, we are ready to tackle the climb up to Ghora Tabela (3048) today where we break for lunch. We will then trek to Mundu (3300m), where we have made it through the hills and are now surrounded by mountains. We will have our first meditation session among the towering mountains here.

Day 5

More mountains please...

We will start the day with yoga as the sun comes up the mountains, and start on our pilgrimage, getting even closer to the majestic guardians of this area. We will reach our final stop, Kyanjin Gompa (3800m), in a few hours. After lunch, we will have time to fully explore the area. We will end the day with meditation and reflection.

Day 6

Inner and outer exploration

After another peaceful start to the day, doing yoga while watching the sun come over the mountains, we can choose what adventure we want to go on for the day. You can join your trek leader to scale a trekking peak, Kyanjin Ri (4800 m), or hike beyond the village with your yoga teacher. Evenings will be dedicated to meditation and reflection, as always.

Day 7

Another day of soaking it all in

We have another day in Kyanjin Gompa, with choices of ways to enjoy the serenity in the middle of the mountains. Another trekking peak, Tserko Ri (almost 5,000 m) beckons if you would like to push yourself and get ready for your next trek. You can also choose to chill in the village, doing more yoga, meditation or reflection.

Day 8

Starting the journey back

It is time to gather our belongings, thank the mountains for hosting us, and head back. We will be walking mostly downhill, so can cover longer distances. We will head out early and reach all the way to Lama Hotel where we can stretch out by the riverside again.

Day 9

A new spot for relaxation

After breakfast at Lama Hotel, we will head out on the familiar trail, but will soon leave it, descending to Bamboo on a new trail. Our trip is almost over, and we shall reflect on what that brings up for us.

Day 10

Back to "civilization"

Today, we will be back by the roadside. As we leave the national park behind, and get back into the fold of modern life, we will have an evening session of full reflection on how we can incorporate into daily life the practices of silence, yoga, meditation, hiking or any other practices we have discovered, and how we can hold on to the truths we have uncovered for ourselves.

Day 11

It's not goodbye, just until next time

While the trip is drawing to a close, we are not ready to let go of our schedule yet. After packing up and morning yoga, we gather for breakfast, and will get into our jeeps - resting those tired feet for the first time in 10 days.
