Now Is the Right Time to Go to Langtang: Here Is Why

langtang yoga trek

The Langtang Valley is one of the most spectacular treks for the beginner. While the hike there is as simple (or as difficult) as other beginner treks in Nepal, you get right to the base of the mountains and are surrounded by them in just a few days. And we at Maya Journeys, are partial to treks that take us into the mountains. Because the mountain lifestyle, culture, and philosophy is unlike anything that you will find anywhere else.

The rich Tamang and Sherpa cultures, together with mindblowing biodiversity in the well-preserved Langtang National Park, make this trek truly amazing. In addition, the people of Langtang have now put their heart and soul into rebuilding their teahouses after the earthquake, and the facilities are better than ever before. When we journey there, we bring much needed business and thus hope for a better future.

While you can definitely do the trek faster, we recommend at least 10 days in the area. The earthquake devastated the whole area but rebuilding was pretty quick by Nepali standards, and the area needs money for its people. It’s a great thing to know that you’re giving back to the people what they’ve lost while surrounded by the beautiful mountains.

The Langtang valley is much less crowded than the Annapurna and Everest areas. For people that like a bit of peace and quiet, you can definitely find it in the Langtang valley. Otherwise, you can always mingle with the other trekkers along the way. The trek is, however, getting more and more popular, especially among the Nepalese, and now is probably the best time to go before it becomes a lot more crowded.
